Forex and Crypto Trading On Online Trading Platforms

This table has brokers which offer trading platforms providing both Cryptocurrencies and Forex. Cryptocurrencies can be traded as CFDs. CFD brokers offer a range of markets, including Forex. Thus at some CFD (and spread betting) brokers, it is possible to trade both Forex and Cryptocurrencies.

In neither case does the trader own any financial market when trading it. Rather they are trading on the movement in value of the market.

These markets can be traded on the same trading platforms. Thus the tools available on the platform such as charting, indicators and graphical objects can be used. These platforms may include MT4 and MT5, depending on the broker. While Forex will typically be on all the trading platforms provided by the broker, Cryptocurrency CFDs may be available on some trading platforms, depending on the broker.

Forex is a decentralised market, there is no central exchange. Cryptocurrencies, upon which the CFDs are based are traded on exchanges. However when trading a Cryptocurrency CFD, the trader does not trade on an exchange, rather with the CFD provider.

Forex and Cryptocurrencies are different markets. Cryptocurrency CFDs are offered as pairs against a currency (or sometimes each other), for example BTC/USD which is the value of Bitcoin in US dollars. Forex is traded as pairs, which are the currency of one country valued in another, providing a range of markets, typically covering major, minor and exotic pairs.

Cryptocurrencies are tokens in networks to exchange value and are used to make payments online. There are actually many more cryptocurrencies (or value tokens) than currencies, but only a relative few are offered by CFD brokers (though some offer more Cryptocurrency CFDs than others). However, by providing Crypto CFDs in different currencies, the broker may offer increased number of Crypto pairs, if not Cryptocurrencies.
