Top MT4 Brokers

The brokers in the table offer trading on the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) online trading platform. They are chosen because they are well established brokers which offer MT4 and its succesor MT5 either as their main platforms or as one of a number of platforms. Some brokers as can be seen from the comparison table offer only MT4 and MT5. Others provide MT4, MT5 and other platforms.

MT4 is perhaps best known as a Forex trading platform, though MT4 offers support for a range of CFD markets and each of these brokers provides Forex and other markets. MT4 is a platform which allows both discretionary trading where the trader makes their own trading decisions and trading where the broker uses programs to trade on their behalf (if the broker supports the use of automated trading strategies, called Expert Advisors on the MT4 platform).

Some of these brokers offer a large number of total markets, but these may not be available on MT4.

So 'Top MT4 Brokers' on this page is meant to indicate that the brokers are useful to the trader, including offering platforms in addition to MT4 which have a larger number and range of markets. A trader may choose to see MT4 as either their main trading platform or as complimentary to the other trading platforms which the broker may offer.

The table shows what the platforms offered by the trader are, as well as the minimum deposit required to open a real trading account. Brokers which offer a very low minimum deposit typically offer accounts which have a very small trade size, e.g. Forex cent accounts.

So this page has provided two categories of MT4 brokers, namely brokers focussed on automated trading and brokers with other main platforms which provide a lot of CFD markets. A trader's journey in the first (automated) category may see MT4 as being their main trading platform. However if the broker offers other platforms (for example and perhaps typically MT5 and cTrader or JForex) these platforms may be utilised as they are arguably more optimised for automated trading and may offer a larger number of markets to trade.

In the second category a trader's journey may be that they use the main platforms with their wider range and number of CFDs and then try MT4 as a platform supporting primarily Forex trading. However since MT4, while it does not have a large number of markets, still supports a range of markets, then they may find that the platform offers an alternative way of trading a core group of CFDs.

For this reason a trader may specifically use MT4 for the capacity to trade markets using the features MT4 offers, for example MT4 for Stock Market trading. Becoming familar with this platform though a Forex MT4 demo account can be a way for traders who use user friendly trading platform, but wish to unlock the power and potential of MT4.

MT4 is itself a very well established platform which has a dedicated support community, where the trader can find more indicators in addition to the number provided on the platform (typically 50+, but can be more or less) and if the broker supports the use of automated trading strategies, a wide range of these.
