ECN Broker Pepperstone Offers Stocks CFD Trading

Rregulated broker Pepperstone is offering trading in 1000+ Stocks CFDs on the MetaTrader 5 (MT5) online trading platform.

What is a Stock CFD ?

A Stock CFD is not a Stock. A CFD is a Contract for Difference which references the value of an underlying Stock. The trader can go long or short and use leverage, but increasing leverage increases risk. The trader does now own any Stock when trading the CFD. Thus a Stock CFD is a way to trade Stocks, without owning them.

Short selling

A Stock CFD is a straightforward way to short sell a Stock, as the trader simply goes short on the CFD. This may be combined with leverage to trade falling as well as rising markets.

What is MetaTrader 5 ?

MetaTrader 5 (MT5) is the successor platform to MetaTrader 4 (MT4). It offers a number of improvements on MT5, including more inbuilt technical indicators, graphical objects and time frames. These are tools and features which the trader may want to use when applying technical analysis to markets, including day trading Stocks CFDs.

Extended hours

Pepperstone lets the trader trade in after-hours. This can enable the trader to trade on earnings and other news events which happen outside of market hours.

What is Pepperstone's minimum deposit ?

Pepperstone's minimum deposit is £200 or AU$/$200. Pepperstone.

What other features does Pepperstone offer ?

Pepperstone is a no dealing desk broker, and offers fast order execution on a range of markets, including Stocks CFDs. The full range of markets to trade is Forex, Indices, Energy, Metals, Soft Commodities, Cryptocurrencies and Stocks CFDs, with 1000+ in total, which is a relatively large number for a no dealing desk broker. This kind of trading allied with infrastructure such as the use of data centers can produce fast order processing and allow a wide range of trading styles. Some styles may be more suited to some markets than others.

For Stocks CFDs, the trader may analyse using the same methods as for real Stocks, as their value is referenced to real Stocks. For day trading Stocks CFDs (which the capacity to go long or short and to use leverage can enable), the trader may use the wide range of technical analysis tools offered on MT5.

What other trading platforms are offered ?

Pepperstone also offers MT4, cTrader and TradingView. These platforms are not available for Stocks CFDs, but do support most of the other markets.

Is Pepperstone regulated ?

Pepperstone is authorised and regulated in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and is regulated in Australia by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), in Cyprus by the Cyprus Securities and Investments Commission (CySEC), in Germany by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), in Kenya by the Capital Markets Authority (CMA), in the Bahamas by the Securities Commission of the Bahamas (SCB) and in Dubai by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
