Chainlink Crypto CFD Trading - What is Chainlink and LINK

Smart contracts are a significant use case of blockchain technology, and allow the blockchain to be used to process computer programs. Smart contracts need to interact with data off the blockchain to scale their use cases, and Chainlink is an approach to allow smart contracts to utilise real world off-chain data.

Chainlink uses what are termed blockchain oracles, that is systems which can interact with off-chain data or systems. Chainlink utilises multiple oracles, allowing a decentralised approach to verifying real world data (for example aggregating multiple feeds used in DeFi applications). Chainlink provides a ready built infrastructure to allow others to utilise smart contract needing to interact with real world data.

Potential use cases for Chainlink include the Metaverse, as it would need to interact with real world data. Chainlink is involved in Web3, which uses oracle networks to interact with real world data. Chainlink is also involved with NFTs (Non-Fungible-Tokens) via Chainlink VRF. Chainlink VRF is a way to provide randomness which is used in the rarity factor in NFTs and as part of their distribution.

The network token for Chainlink is traded on cryptocurrency exchanges under the ticker symbol LINK. A CFD is based on the value of the underlying asset, thus when trading a LINK CFD, the trader does not own any LINK. When trading at a CFD broker, the trader may use their provided platforms (such as MetaTrader) to trade crypto CFDs. MetaTrader has a wide range of tools allowing technical and fundamental analysis as well as automated trading with EA robots.

CFDs allows the trader to use leverage (this can can vary depending on the broker and region), however cryptocurrencies are extremely volatile and increasing leverage increases risk. The cryptocurrency market is open 24/7, brokers may or may not, depending on the broker, allow weekend trading of cryptocurrencies (though there is normally a short break at some stage on the weekend for maintenance).
