CFD Trading Platform Comparison

A CFD is a Contract for Difference. It is a contract between the trader and the CFD provider to exchange the difference in value of a CFD from the beginning to the end of the trade. It allows the trader to trade a financial market without having to own it. CFDs let the trader go long or short and to use leverage, however increasing leverage increases risk.

CFDs are traded at online brokers via the provided trading platforms, once they have opened a CFD trading account (which is to say opened an online trading account at the CFD broker). As can be seen from the comparison table CFD brokers can offer a range of platforms. These can include MT4, MT5 and web traders.

Different trading platforms allow the trader to trade CFDs in different ways. For example, some platforms let the trader use automated trading strategies (including MT4, MT5, JForex and cTrader), while others may use a web trader platform layout to create a more intuitive trading experience.

Some brokers may offer additional types of trading, for example copy trading, where the trader copies the trades of other traders into their own account. For all types of trading, because a strategy worked in the past does not mean it will work in the future.
