Brokers With $1 minimum Deposit
Some brokers have very low minimum deposits. The minimum deposit is the minimum initial deposit to open a live trading account. Very low minimum deposits may be associated with accounts which allow for small trade sizes.
When trading with a broker, it is normally preferable to try it out on a demo account, and also to use this to practice trading without risk. Demo accounts can be signed up to initially and may be added after a live account is created. However at a certain point, the trader may wish to try trading on a live account. A live account tends to have more steps to open and also requires a deposit of some kind to trade.
Brokers can approach the initial deposit in different ways. A minimum deposit of $100 is fairly typical, however some may state that to trade more comfortably, a larger deposit is needed. One way to trade on a smaller account (without using higher leverage, if it is available) is to trade with small trade sizes. Such an account can be a way to move from demo to live, or to test out strategies on a live account (perhaps developed on a demo account). In theory the trader can scale their trading on an account like this, though there may be limits on the position sizes.
Accounts with small trade sizes are associated with Forex brokers, in that a MetaTrader cent account allow trade sizes that can be significantly lower than 1 standard Forex lot, as it is denominated in cents. At some brokers, cent accounts are not called 'Cent' accounts, rather 'Micro' accounts, as they can offer micro lots of micro lots. However the broker may allow fractional Stocks for example, thus enabling very small trade sizes on Stocks CFDs, for example.
When trading with small account sizes, the amount which can be lost is reduced, however the amount which can be gained is also reduced. Thus the trader may wish to consider that there is to some extent a lack of realism in this type of trading. However to some extent this mitigates a problem with demo trading, namely that demo trading accounts can have virtual account sizes signficantly larger than the amount the trader actually will trade with on a live account.
