Broker to Trading

In general the trader is much better off trading with a regulated Forex broker. While unregulated brokers can and will offer features which are not available at regulated broker, the trader needs to consider that these features are not available for their own protection. Thus, as regulations change, features which were available at regulated brokers may no longer be available.

Features which have changed vary depending on the regulator, but can include reductions in maximum leverage, increases in stop out levels, the availability of promotions including a bonuses and risk warnings. So at unregulated brokers, the trader will tend to find higher leverage, perhaps lower stop outs levels and promotions including bonuses. Increasing leverage increases risk, lower stop out levels expose a greater amount of the traders capital to being taken by adverse moves and promotions tend to have a fine print which make them hard to actually make use of and also incentivise trading, which can result in losses (for example trading competitions).

An unregulated broker is unregulated and the trader will not have the protections of a regulator of things go wrong, which is why a trader should trade with a regulated broker. The brokers in the table are unregulated but are chosen because they are branches of brokers which are well established, but this does not means that the trader will find them necessarily any more reliable than any other unregulated broker. Trading with lower leverage can help the trader use the market in more efficient and safer ways. Trading without bonuses and promotions means the trader trades because they feel they should, rather than to try and attain a bonuses which they may find difficult to get.
