Online Broker Australia - Online Trading Account Australia - Trading Platforms

These are online brokers based in Australia which are regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). They offer CFD trading. In CFD trading, the trader does not own any underlying financial market when trading it.

Each brokers provides an online trading platform or platforms which allow the trader to trade CFDs and all offer Bitcoin margin trading. Most of the brokers offer STP/ECN trading or ECN trading and provide trading platforms suited to this kind of trading. City Index is not an ECN or STP/ECN broker, but does offer many more markets to trade. If the trader wishes they can trade on a demo account.

All of these brokers offer Forex and a range of other markets. Forex is a complex market and traders use a range of different approaches to trade it. MetaTrader 4 (MT5) is well known as a Forex trading platform, though it also includes typically other markets. MT4 lets the trader use both automated and non-automated trading.

Because Forex is complex, traders use rules to trade it. Rule based trading can be seen as a way of approaching complexity, as it can provide an algorithmic basis to enter, maintain and exit a trade.

However the trader may wish to let a computer program, which is itself an algorithm, execute these rules on their behalf. This is automated Forex trading and MT4 enables this by offering automated trading strategies (robots) called Expert Advisors or EAs. A trader may want to create strategies, instead of using strategies others have created, and MT4 offers this facility letting traders write online trading robots in the MQL4 language.

MT4 has a successor, called MetaTrader 5 (MT5) and some brokers provide this platform as well. MT5 has a number of upgrades, and typically, but not always, comes with more markets available than MT4, if the broker offers both platforms. In MT5, the trader can create robots in the MQL5 language.
