MT4 Australia - Forex Trading

MetaTrader 4 (MT4) is a Forex trading platform which also supports a range of other markets. MT4 can be used for both discretionary trading where the trader makes their own trading decisions and automated trading where a computer program executes a trading strategy on behalf of the trader.

The Forex market has a range of markets available and can be traded in different ways. Some traders may wish to apply technical and/or fundamental analysis. Technical analysis seeks to uncover patterns which may be repeated. Thus the trader looks for signs that a pattern is forming. However, patterns may not form in the way they are expected to.

Traders can use analysis based on the chart price types used to represent prices on a chart, for example, line or candlestick charts. Candlestick charts are used by Forex traders because they can represent patterns in the movement of prices.

The Forex market experiences periods of reduced and increasing volatility, but it does tend to move. There are quiet times, for example after market closes or following major events, such as those consequent on the release of market moving data. Quiet times can precede an increase in volatility, or they may not. Volatility itself can be a double edged sword, it can help in the formation of patterns but it can also produce movement which can be difficult to trade. Events such as the release of data in a market can be the basis of trading analysis, for example in news trading, however the market can move in unexpected ways following the release of data.

A Forex trader does not have to automate their trading strategy but it can be useful to be able to trade in a manner which may be difficult for the human trader given the always on nature of the market from open on Sunday to close on Friday. MT4 provides Expert Advisors, which are automated trading strategies which will execute these strategies on behalf of the trader. These brokers are regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and are based in Australia.
