IronFX and UFX Comparison

IronFX is an MT4 broker, which provides accounts to support a range of trading styles from discretionary to automated. UFX is a fixed spread broker which provides a range of account types with different features for a higher minimum deposit. It provides MT4, but has a focus on discretionary trading with the ParagonEx platform. This has support for crowd trading: it contains a feed which has news about market events and markets, referenced to what it is that other traders are doing about these events or markets.

However IronFX also can offer fixed spreads, in addition to variable spreads, and has a range of account types for its instant execution accounts, with differing features for a higher minimum deposit. IronFX does in fact offers STP/ECN trading (which may have slippage, but orders are not requoted). It can be seen that a difference between these brokers, is the provision of STP/ECN accounts (IronFX) vs crowd trading (UFX).

Both are regulated by the CySEC in Cyprus. IronFX is additionally regulated by the FCA in the United Kingdom, the ASIC in Australia and the FSCA in South Africa.

Minimum deposit and account types

The minimum deposit for IronFX is $100 and the minimum deposit for UFX is $100.

  • IronFX offers a range of account types and services. These include a Micro account which has a minimum deposit of $100, a Premium account with a minimum deposit of $2,500 and a VIP account with a minimum deposit of $20,000. These three account types are available with fixed or variable spreads and the spreads can be tighter on higher account types. The minimum trade size is 0.01 lots except for the Premium and VIP accounts where it is 0.1 lots.
  • IronFX also offers a Zero Fixed Spread account. This provides zero spreads for some markets, with commissions charged. As well, IronFX offers STP/ECN accounts with or without commissions. It also has an STP/ECN Absolute Zero account, with spreads from zero, with no commission charge. For the Zero Fixed Spread account and the STP/ECN account, the minimum deposit is $500. The minimum deposit for the Absolute Zero account is upon request to the account manager.
  • All IronFX accounts offer a dedicated account manager, technical analysis reports, investor education tools and private one-on-one trading guidance. The Premium, VIP, STP/ECN No Commission and STP/ECN Zero Spread accounts also offer a dealing department transaction hotline.
  • UFX provides six account types, Micro/Mini, Mini, Standard, Gold, Platinum and Islamic. The minimum initial deposit is $100 for the Micro/Mini account, $500 for the Mini account, $1000 for the Islamic and Standard accounts, $5000 for the Gold account and $10,000 for the Platinum account. The minimum trade size ranges from 0.0025 lots for the Micro/Mini account to 1 lot for the Platinum account.

Spreads and leverage

  • The spreads IronFX makes available to traders can vary depending on the account type. The fixed spreads of the Micro Account are 2.2 for EUR/USD and 0.5 for Gold (XAU/USD), but EUR/USD has a fixed spread of 1.6 on the VIP account. The variable spreads for the Micro account are from 1.1 for EUR/USD and from 0.5 for Gold. The variable EUR/USD spread has a low of 0.5 on the VIP account.
  • UK100 on IronFX has a variable spread from 0.8, US Crude Oil has a variable spread from 0.04 and Bitcoin has a spread from 10. The lowest possible spread for EUR/USD is 0 and for XAU/USD is 0.15, with a commission charge. The Absolute Zero account has ECN spreads, without a commission charge.
  • Spreads at UFX are fixed under normal market conditions but vary according to the account type. The lowest spreads are for the Platinum account at 2 for EUR/USD, 0.50 for Gold and 0.05 for US Crude Oil. For the Micro/Mini account spreads are 4 for EUR/USD, 0.75 for Gold and 0.11 for US Crude Oil. For the Standard account spreads are 3 for EUR/USD, 0.65 for Gold and 0.07 for US Crude Oil.

IronFX offers over 30 technical indicators, UFX offers over 50 technical indicators. IronFX provides bar, candlestick and line charts and time frames from 1 minute to 1 month. UFX provides candlestick, OHLC, line, hollow candles, Heikin-Ashi, Bar Forest, area, HLC, coloured bar HLC, dot chart and line dot charts and time frames from tick to 1 month.

Both brokers offer micro lot trading. IronFX and UFX both offer MT4 (but UFX offers MT4 only for higher account types).

IronFX has a straightforward platform layout of markets lists and the chart, on its MT4 web trader. As UFX offers crowd trading insights, UFX provides a Crowd Trading Feed to the right of the boxes of individual markets on its trading platform. Both IronFX and UFX say that account balances cannot go negative.
