Forex Trading Platforms Australia - Trading Accounts & Platforms

These are brokers based in Australia and regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). They offer Forex trading as well as a range of other CFD markets. When trading Forex or other CFD markets, the trader does not own any underlying financial market (thus they do not own any currency when trading a Forex pair).

Online Forex trading is the same as online currency trading. When trading Forex, the trader buys or sells a Forex pair, which is one currency valued in another on an online trading platform, through an account where they can access the trading platform. The trader can use the tools provided on the platforms to analyse a Forex pair and then speculate on the way the currency will move. Central to this is the charting offered on the platform, along with tools such as technical indicators.

For more advanced traders, trading strategies can be automated, allowing a computer program following the rules of the strategy to trade on behalf of the trader. If the trader wishes to run these programs even when disconnected from their computer, then they can rent hosting on a Virtual Private Server, which can run strategies 24/7.

Some platforms support both automated and discretionary trading (where the trader makes their own trading decisions). These platforms include MT4, MT5 and cTrader. Forex brokers will tend to offer MT4 and perhaps MT4's successor MT5 and other platforms.

It is possible to trade Forex using only discretionary trading, and brokers may offer a Web Trader or an advanced platform such as AT Pro to help the trader either by simplifying the layout or by adding on extra indicators and other features (i.e. helping the beginner or advanced trader).
