easyMarkets and IronFX and Markets.com Comparison

easyMarkets, IronFX and Markets.com are three regulated CFD brokers. All three brokers offer fixed spreads, but IronFX also offers variable spreads. These brokers provide a range of account types, with different services for available to those who deposit more.

Account types and minimum deposit

The minimum deposit for easyMarkets, IronFX and Markets.com is $100. All three brokers provide Islamic accounts. Each of these brokers offers an account structure where higher deposits results in extra features.

  • easyMarkets offers a Standard account with a minimum deposit of $100 and a VIP account with a minimum deposit of $2,500.
  • All easyMarkets account types have customer support and a personal account manager. The VIP account additionally has telephone trading, access to the tightest spreads at easyMarkets, a personal analyst and real time SMS market updates. The minimum trade size is 0.01 lots.
  • IronFX offers a range of account types and services. These include a Micro account which has a minimum deposit of $100, a Premium account with a minimum deposit of $2,500 and a VIP account with a minimum deposit of $25,000. These three account types are available with fixed or variable spreads and the spreads can be tighter on higher account types.
  • IronFX also offers a Zero Fixed Spread account. This provides zero spreads for some markets, with commissions charged. As well, IronFX offers STP/ECN accounts with or without commissions. For the Zero Fixed Spread account and the STP/ECN account, the minimum deposit is $500. The Premium and VIP accounts offer a dealing desk transaction hotline.
  • Markets.com offers three account types, Classic, Standard and Premium, depending on the deposit. The minimum initial deposit is $100 for the Classic and Islamic accounts, $2,500 for the Standard account and $20,000 for the Premium account.
  • All easyMarkets's account types have a client relationship manager, technical reports access, a platform tour, basics education, guides to technical analysis, fundamentals and charts, and free trading signals. The VIP account also offers personal analysis, express withdrawals, 24 hour trading support via chat or telephone and SMS market updates.
  • All three Markets.com account types come with daily analysis, tutorials, customer support and webinars. The standard account also comes with a dedicated account manager, SMS news and signals, and premium daily analysis. Markets.com's Premium account also comes with premium customer support.

All three brokers offer personalised services for higher deposit accounts. While each broker provides extra account services for higher deposits, IronFX also provides accounts which cater to traders who want low spreads with commissions or STP/ECN services without commissions.

Markets

These brokers differ to an extent in terms of the individual markets available to trade. All three brokers provide Forex Pairs, Indices and Commodities. IronFX and Markets.com also provides Share CFDs. easyMarkets offers Options and Markets.com offers Bonds. Markets.com, easyMarkets and IronFX provide a range of Cryptocurrencies.

Markets.com has the most CFD available, with 2000+. While easyMarkets offer 300+ markerts to trade, it also offers the most Forex products with 136 Day Trade/Spot FX, 48 FX Forwards plus 58 Vanilla Options FX pairs available, versus 50+ for Markets.com. IronFX offers the smallest total number of markets at 200+, however IronFX also has a strong offering of Forex pairs, with 120+ on offer.

Spreads and leverage

  • Spreads at easyMarkets are fixed and are from 1 for EUR/USD, 2 for UK100, 0.35 for Gold and 0.04 for US Oil.
  • The spreads IronFX makes available to traders can vary depending on the account type. The fixed spreads on the Micro Account are 2.2 for EUR/USD and 0.5 for Gold (XAU/USD), but EUR/USD has a fixed spread of 1.6 on the VIP account. The variable spreads for the Micro account are from 1.1 for EUR/USD and from 0.5 for Gold. The variable EUR/USD spread has a low of 0.5 on the VIP account. The lowest possible spread for EUR/USD is 0 and for XAU/USD is 0.15, with a commission charge (the Absolute Zero account offers ECN spreads, but does not charge commissions). The STP/ECN account with no commissions has EUR/USD spreads from 1.7.
  • UK100 on IronFX has a variable spread from 0.8 and US Crude Oil has a variable spread from 0.04.
  • Markets.com offers fixed spreads from 2 pips for EUR/USD, 3 pips for USD/JPY, 1.2 for UK100, 0.7 for Gold and 0.03 for US Crude Oil.
  • Both easyMarkets and IronFX provide lower fixed spreads for Premium accounts, while IronFX provides tight variable STP/ECN spreads and zero fixed spreads with commissions.

Platforms

easyMarkets has 40+ technical indicators, IronFX has 30+ technical indicators (on its MT4 web trader) and Markets.com has around 90. easyMarkets offers time frames from 1 minute to 1 week, IronFX and Markets.com offer time frames from 1 minute to 1 month. easyMarkets offers candlestick, OHLC and line charts and both IronFX and Markets.com offer bar, candlestick and line charts. All three brokers offer MT4.

Each broker provides their own custom platform. easyMarkets provides a chart and dealing ticket centered platform with lists of markets to choose from. There is also access to Options trading, a news feed, a financial calendar and trading signals (if available for the account). Markets.com provides a chart centered platform with markets boxes. IronFX also provides markets lists and chart platform, but is perhaps more stripped down in its design than the other two brokers.

All three brokers say that accounts balances cannot go negative.

In Australia, IronFX is a trading name of GVS (AU) Pty Limited, which is authorized and regulated by ASIC, AFSL number 417482. In South Africa, IronFX is regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) with FSP No 45276.
  • Markets.com is operated by Safecap Investments Limited which is regulated by the CySEC in Cyprus and the FSCA in South Africa. Summary

All of these brokers provide a range of trading, but Markets.com has a larger number of Shares CFD on offer. That said, both easyMarkets and IronFX have a strong offering of Forex products (relative also to other brokers). Markets.com also has a solid offering of Forex pairs relative to other brokers.

Only IronFX offers STP/ECN accounts, which include low ECN caliber spreads. Both easyMarkets and Markets.com have fixed spreads, while IronFX has fixed and variable spreads.

easyMarkets and IronFX provide tighter fixed spreads for premium account types with a higher minimum deposit and IronFX provides zero fixed spreads on some products, with or without a commission charged.
