City Index AT Pro Review

AT Pro is City Index's platform for advanced traders. The platform contains charting and charting tools as well as a relatively wide range of technical indicators. AT Pro lets the trader use and build chart based signals, to provide exit and entry signals to the trader.

What is a standout feature of AT Pro ?

AT Pro lets the trader trade using their own charting analysis and also allows the trader to supplement this with charting signals. For traders who want to rely on their own charting analysis, AT Pro has 130+ technical indicators. There are time frames from tick to yearly and chart price types covering Filled and Hollow Japanese Candlesticks, Heikin-Ashi Candlesticks, OHLC Bars, Bars, Line, Line-Dot, Point and Figure and Renko.

Under the Research and Analysis tab on the platform, the trader can find News, an Economic Calendar and City Index Market Analysis. Additionally City Index offers Trading Central, with Trading Central Technical and Fundamental Analysis, Trading Central Market Buzz (which includes News and News about Markets) and Trading Central Analyst Views.

Can the trader test out AT Pro on a Demo account ?

The trader can open a demo account with City Index which gives the trader access to all platforms except MT4, which needs a separate application. This trader can then download AT Pro and login with their demo login credentials. The Demo account has $10,000 in Virtual Funds, which is not real money and cannot be withdrawn.

When trading a demo account, the trader may wish to note that there can be a difference between trading with a larger sum of virtual funds compared with the real funds the trader may later deposit. The more capital in the account, the more room it can potentially give to trade.

Nonetheless, the trader can test out the platform, practice placing orders and using the charting tools and the automated trading signals as well as test out trading ideas on the demo account, without risking real money. The demo account is valid for 12 weeks. City Index Demo.

Automated trading

The automated trading features are available from the Automated Trading tab. To add a trading system to a market, the trader can right click on the chart and choose one from the drop down menu. The trader can set parameters of the system if they wish.

When chosen, the chart will display entry and exit signals on the chart for the given trading system. The chart will show past entry and exit signals, so the trader may have to wait until an entry signal comes along. If the trader wants a signal now, they can look at lower time frames, as different time frames can generate different signals.

So these systems provide an augmentation to the trader by helping automate the process of choosing when to enter and when to exit. The trader does not need to follow these signals and can enter and exit based on other analysis. Trading signals and systems will not necessarily give accurate signals or perform better than the trader and because they may have worked in the past, does not mean they will work in the future. From the Builder tab under the Automated Trading tab, the trader can build their own trading systems and technical indicators.

What markets are available to trade ?

Compared with other brokers City Index has a relatively large number and wide range of markets to trade. In total there are 12,000 markets, covering CFDs and in the UK additionally spread betting. In total there are 4,500+ CFD markets to trade. On MT4, City Index has much less, as is typical for this platform and is focused on Forex and Metals, though there are other markets.

AT Pro however has all the markets offered by City Index, as does its user friendly Web Trader. The total range of markets covers Forex, Indices, Energy, Soft Commodities, Cryptocurrencies, Bonds, Equities, Interest Rates and Options, which is a relatively wide range compared with other brokers. Within categories City Index may have a relatively wide range, for example its Energies as well as offering Oil also include Heating Oil, Gas RBOB, Carbon Emissions (EUA), Heating Oil and Natural Gas.
