Australian Broker Comparison

These brokers are all regulated by the Australian Commodities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in Australia. Some are also regulated in other countries. The Broker vs Broker comparisons go into more detail than the table, comparing brokers by minimum deposit, account types, trading markets, representative spreads, leverage, commissions and platforms and include a comparison summary at the end.

  • Most of these brokers have a location outside of Australia as well as a location in Australia
  • All of these brokers offer Forex trading, along with Commodities and Indices
  • Commodities typically include Energy and Precious Metals, it may also include Base Metals and Soft Commodities
  • A number of these brokers offer Share CFDs
  • Some of these brokers provide ECN services, with very low Forex spreads, and a commission charge added
  • ECN brokers may also offer STP accounts which can have higher spreads and no commission charge

Forex trading Australia

A number of these brokers provide ECN trading, where low Forex spreads can be available, but with a commission charge added. Some are ECN brokers, which also offer STP trading, without a commission charge and higher Forex spreads. A broker may not offer ECN services, but may rather provide more markets to trade. ECN brokers tend to offer a smaller number of markets, where much of the total available is Forex pairs, though this is changing with the addition of other CFD markets to trade.

CFD trading Australia

All of these brokers provide Contract for Difference (CFD) trading. In CFD trading, the trader does not own any underlying financial market.

Forex trading platforms

All of these brokers provide MT4. The ECN brokers may provide a web trader based on MT4, while the other brokers may offer a custom web platform to trade on, designed for traders who execute their own trades. Other trading platforms may be available to trade Forex, such as MT5 (the successor to MT4) and cTrader.
